Stunned into Writer's Block

I don't even know what to say about the latest school shooting. A one room school house in the heart of Amish country. Little girls shot execution style - its horrific. I can't help thinking that the shooter went there because he was going to shoot somebody and the security would be less tight in this nonviolent, peaceful community.

Even taking mental illness into account, I don't believe these shooters decide to do their deed on a whim. Where are the friends and family of these guys? Why aren't they paying attention and being proactive? I've lived with Pap for 25 years. I know when he's on a rant about something, even if he isn't talking about it. I know who's wronged him in the past and how he feels about it now. This shooter says he was getting revenge for something that happened 20 years ago. He NEVER talked about this evil deed to anyone?

It's a bad day for good news. Did you hear about the Texas teacher who was fired because her students saw nude statues in a MUSEUM? Jeesh. This country is all out of whack today.

Besides the fact that I don't understand how you could shoot anyone who wasn't threatening your life (in which case I wouldn't have a problem) - I surely don't understand how a man with children of his own - could shoot small children. THEY sure didn't do anything to him. Just so sick. And so sad.

Why is it that the targets are often the most inoffensive people. A few years ago we had the Dunblane massacre of school children. Do they pick these targets because they are the easiest ones to attack? What is does show is that grief and sorrow for these events unites whole countries and continents.

I saw the news online and because it's about children I could not bring myself to read about it. It's too painful.

Unbelievable. Can't even comprehend how humans can do this to one another - what is missing in their minds that allows them to behave like this?

I'm surprised they allow nude statues in a museum in TX. (don't mind me, I'm just being a biased New Yorker)

I agree with you Jackie and Dave, I don't understand what's missing in a person that allows them to hurt the innocent, and the world does rally round in the face of these tragedys.

I'm sorry you had to read it here GG.

Thanks for the moment of levity Sunflower! Believe it or not, there are even nude statues in OHIO! (I know, it's shocking!)

Sometimes it seems that these people just snap> the reason they snap and the reason no one saw it coming is they kept everything inside of themsleves and neverr shared it with anybody. One should never take kids to museum unless you cover the statues with a blanket. everybody know that.

You're right Dr. John, I had a judgemental morning. Just blows my mind these kinds of things.

I had CNN on while I was home this morning and I swear the shooting was all they talked about, but then the hospital and police had press conferences going on. I just can't fathom how you could do that to children, no matter how bad you think life is.
